Maersk introduces new east-Med to central Europe service

The ALEX service will offer its first sailing from Ashdod on November 19, with port rotation of Alexandria, Ashdod, Koper, Ravenna, Piraeus, Limassol and back to Alexandria
 
DENMARK's Maersk Line has commenced a new east Mediterranean to central Europe service via the Adriatic sea. The Adriatic Levant Express ALEX service links Alexandra, Egypt, and Ashdod, Israel to Central Europe.
 
The ALEX service will offer its first sailing from Ashdod on November 19, with port rotation of Alexandria, Ashdod, Koper, Ravenna, Piraeus, Limassol and back to Alexandria. The Adriatic Levant Express will use two vessels to "offer an innovative solution tothe East Mediterranean reefer market with departures from Alexandria, Egypt, and Ashdod, Israel, to Central Europe," Maersk said.
 
The press release added that:" In addition to our present coverage via our North European ports, we reach the Central European markets even faster with a single, effective and reliable direct service providing comprehensive and consistent coverage."
 
According to Mr. Steve Felder, Managing Director of Maersk Israel transit time for export will be 5 days to Koper, 6 days to Ravenna, 9 days to Piraeus, 11 days to Limassol and 13 days to Alexandria.
 
Transit time for import: 9 days from Koper, 8 days from Ravenna, 5 days from Piraeus and 3 days from Limassol.
 
Felder added that the company will deploy two containerships with a minimum capacity of TEU400 and 75 reefer positions each.
