In a press release the organizing committee noted that for the first time, Morocco will attend the event .Other countries participating in the 12th IMTM include Belgium, Georgia, Russia, Mozambique, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Serbia, Papua New Guinea, and South Korea.

The committee noted that Morocco is considered an emerging tourism market. 7,000 Israelis visited the country in 2005, compared with 25,000 in 2000, the peak year. The number of Israeli visitors to Morocco is expected to rise in 2006.
