The plan is – inter alia – designed to prevent the dismissal of workers and to assist local economies
The Cabinet approved an experimental plan to assist financially distressed factories in the periphery. The plan is – inter alia – designed to prevent the dismissal of workers and to assist local economies.
In the first stage, Hatzor Haglilit, Katzrin and Yerucham will enjoy assistance under the plan.
The Pri Hagalil plant [in Hatzor Haglilit] will be the first to enter the plan.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "The Government has the obligation to alleviate the temporary distress of factories which is liable to create an employment problem in weaker locales. The Government views itself as bound to intervene in this dispute in order to prevent a harsh blow to Hatzor Haglilit."
Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz said, "Even though the decision does not meet existing economic tests, it does justice by the workers. I am pleased that the Cabinet passed the decision."
