The MAI is independent umbrella organization which represents private, public government, labour union and Kibbutz-owned enterprises. The MAI membership accounts for about 90% of Israel's industrial output. More than 1,000 public and private enterprises, including many government-owned companies and the Kibbutz Industries Association are members of the MAI. The MAI acts as lobby for specific issues benefiting all industry, operates divisions dealing with major industrial branches and provides numerous services.
